Few organizations today are able to maintain the ethics and honesty of the past, with the technology and opportunities of the future.

At the APA we resist the trends of today, like selling our members' information, questionable cross promotions, corporate sponsorships and filling our web sites with advertisements.

What we are left with is an organization unlike any other. One that serves the companion animal and local humane organizations first, and pet community and related businesses a very close second.

While we might be an independent and stand alone organization, we are happy to stand side by side with some of our nation's greatest local humane agencies and pet businesses, doing what is right by the companion animals that put their complete faith in our love and humanity. More About us

More serious concerns about Microchips

Our advice - Don't chip!

Pharmaceutical giant Merck is being sued. The lawsuit alleges that Merck's HomeAgain pet microchip induced cancer in a cat.

Dr. Katherine Albrecht, a consumer advocate and expert on implantable microchip reactions, said that, "Based on the alarming number of microchip-linked cancers we're discovering, I predict this lawsuit will be just the tip of the iceberg."

Chip Me Not reports that there are

"... [A] growing number of adverse reactions to microchips, including the chip-related cancer deaths of two dogs within the past year."

School season is in full swing!

Scholastic Fundraising Program

This school year brings big change for the APA. We have launched our Scholastic Fundraising Program, designed not to raise pennies, but thousands of dollars for our nation's financially strapped schools. We expect to raise $1,280,000.00 this year during our program launch and over 12 million next year.

APA Approval growing daily

A great addition to the APA in 2010, and the pet community in whole, is our Business and Product Approval Departments.

You asked, we answered. What products can I trust? What businesses are going to treat my pet properly? What businesses are reputable?

Business Approval is designed to allow pet owners to know, nation wide, not only which pet businesses they can trust their pets with, but which businesses use ethical, safe and fair business practices.
Product Approval allows pet owners to know at a glance which product is not only safe and effective for their pets, but that they will not be wasting their hard earned money on a product that is ineffective.
